Nancy Shellman Burkhardt

Bio

After retiring in 2001, I was a fulltime caretaker for my grandson who was almost one at the time. This continued til he entered Kindergarten all day. I feel my most success, besides becoming a nurse, was raising 3 children and loving our 4 grandchildren. I would like to be known as a good mom and grandmother. And also for being generous and kind to others and willing to help when needed.

I believe we all felt safe when growing up in the 50's. We were able to go out and play, not worry about being kidnapped or driveby shootings. There is just too much of that now. There was also less stress about everything. There is just too much put on our kids of today. They dress too old, go to too many parties where there is alcohol and drugs, and parents allow this.

I am learning how to step back and not get to involved in the lives of my children.

The only words of "wisdom" that I can think of are "never assume", because when you do, it is wrong.

I like my life, I take exercise classes, do swimming a lot, play bridge, and many more things, including and most importantly, taking care of a grandson and loving the other grandchildren.
